The Vihra Mountaineering and Sports Organization from Rudo, with key support from the Municipality of Rudo and its sponsors, has opened registration for the fourth edition of the Salamander Trail race.
This
popular sports and tourism event, as well as an autumn challenge for nature and
running enthusiasts, will take place on October 24, 2026.
The
race will be held across the attractive hills and mountains around Rudo, in the
area where Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro meet. Organizers have
prepared two circular routes for participants, covering 12 and 21.5 kilometers,
designed to accommodate runners with different levels of physical fitness.
Both
courses pass through the picturesque landscapes of the Municipality of Rudo,
offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountain ranges and the Lim River.
In addition to the sporting competition, the event is known for its traditional hospitality and a rich program of activities.
A
prize fund has been secured for the most successful male and female competitors
on both courses. All registered participants will have access to well-equipped
refreshment stations along the routes, a communal lunch after the race, as well
as a music and entertainment program before and after the sporting activities.
Over
the past three years, Salamander Trail has welcomed more than 200 runners from
across Bosnia and Herzegovina and countries throughout the region.
According
to Mirko Ivanović, one of the event's main organizers, the primary goals of the
race are to encourage young people to engage in physical activity, promote the
rich history and culture of the Municipality of Rudo, and showcase the tourism
potential of this area.
Registration
for the race is open to everyone, regardless of age or fitness level.
The
latest information and details about the organization of the race can be found
on the official Salamander Trail Instagram profile.
