On September 28, Derventa will host the "Derventska Desetka," one of the most challenging street races in the region, known for its cumulative ascent of 80 meters and a route that crosses both banks of the Ukrina River.
The course proudly holds a World Athletics certification, and participants will compete in 10 km and 5 km races across four age categories – under 40, under 50, under 60, and over 60. The program will also feature children’s races, adding to the vibrant atmosphere.
Race packages include a jersey, a bib number with a timing chip, time measurement, a medal, a certificate, and gifts from sponsors.
Biljana Teofilović, Director of the Derventa Tourist Organization, emphasized that the “Derventska Desetka” is not just a sporting competition but also an opportunity to present the city as a destination that combines active recreation, hospitality, and a rich tourism offer.
Top competitors can expect valuable prizes – winners of the 10 km race will receive 400 KM, while the 5 km race winners will be awarded 300 KM. The top three athletes in all categories will be recognized with trophies, medals, certificates, T-shirts, and sponsor gift packages, while every participant who crosses the finish line will earn a commemorative medal.
Dalibor Vrhovac, coach of the Derventa Athletics Club, co-organizer of the event, stressed that the goal of the race is to promote athletics and recreation among all generations:
“We want to bring together as many athletes and recreational runners as possible, while also inspiring young people to embrace sports. A special value comes from the participation of international guests, which gives the race an international character,” said Vrhovac.
The start and finish line will be at the Sports Center in Derventa, with the race beginning at 5:00 PM. For more information, participants can call +38765 686 784 or email ak.derventa@gmail.com.
