This year as well, the youngest residents, older citizens, and numerous visitors spending their holidays in Višegrad can look forward to a variety of engaging events to kick off the New Year in a festive atmosphere.

According to Višegrad Mayor Mladen Đurević, organizers have ensured a rich and diverse program throughout all seven days of the event.

“We are pleased to see the smiling faces of our youngest citizens who gladly visit and participate in this manifestation each year. The Municipality of Višegrad will continue to provide full support in the coming year to both long-standing traditional events and new ones that will enrich our overall offering,” Đurević said.

Isidora Živak from the Višegrad Tourist Organization, one of the event organizers, announced that a major novelty this year is the opening of an ice rink during the festival, Radio Višegrad reports.

“The ice rink will be set up at the Byzantine Square in Andrićgrad and will be open daily from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. We are confident that all visitors will enjoy it,” Živak added.

Organizing Committee member Jovana Borovčanin Đurević stated that the ceremonial opening is planned for Thursday, January 1, at 5 p.m., when Santa Claus will arrive in Andrićgrad, accompanied by performances from children of the “Neven” kindergarten and students of “Vuk Karadžić” Elementary School.

“We have prepared numerous animators and a large number of mascots that will certainly delight the children of Višegrad. We are also preparing a rich gastronomic offer and want Višegrad to shine in a new glow this year. Warm drinks will be provided for all visitors, along with fireworks to complete this winter fairy tale,” Borovčanin Đurević said.

Throughout the festival, daily activities are planned, including a family day on ice, a small ice party, and a sports day. On Christmas Eve, the traditional lighting of the badnjak will take place in front of the church in Andrićgrad, accompanied by a cultural and artistic program.

“Zimski dani Višegrada” will conclude on Christmas Day, January 7, with a ceremony at Byzantine Square where certificates of appreciation will be presented to all participants who contributed to organizing this year’s event.
