A newly arranged scenic viewpoint has been unveiled in Višegrad, offering breathtaking views from the Butkove Stijene site. From this elevated spot, visitors can enjoy a striking panorama of the town, the Drina River, and the iconic Mehmed Paša Sokolović Bridge—one of the most recognizable landmarks of the region.
The
viewpoint is part of a newly developed trail stretching just under six
kilometers. Designed primarily for hikers, the route is also suitable for
running and mountain biking, making it an attractive destination for outdoor
enthusiasts of all kinds.
The
trail begins near the historic bridge and winds through several natural points
of interest before reaching the rocky cliffs. At the top, visitors are rewarded
with sweeping views and ideal spots for photography.
This location has been transformed into an appealing excursion site thanks to the efforts of the Planinarsko-sportsko društvo Stolac. Through multiple volunteer initiatives, members successfully cleared, arranged, and marked the trail, making it safe and accessible.
Representatives
of the association have urged visitors to stay on marked paths, prioritize
safety, and help preserve the environment by not leaving waste behind, ensuring
the area remains clean and welcoming for everyone.
The
new viewpoint at Butkove Stijene is already drawing attention from nature
lovers and photographers, and it is expected to become one of the most popular
spots for enjoying panoramic views of Višegrad.
