In the first quarter of 2025, tourists recorded a total of 256,966 overnight stays, which is 2.7% more than in the same period last year.

Sanela Šimun, Public Relations Associate, said that mountain destinations saw the most significant growth, with a 7.7% increase in overnight stays.

"Spa towns recorded a 2.4% increase, while other tourist locations with attractive features—such as favorable climates, cultural and historical sites, rivers, and lakes—saw a 1.5% rise," Šimun stated.

She noted that visitors stayed an average of 2.7 days during the first two months of the year.

"As in previous years, the majority of visitors, aside from domestic tourists, came from neighboring countries—Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, and Montenegro. Other notable source markets include Turkey, Austria, China, Germany, and Italy," Šimun added.

Domestic tourists mainly spent their time in destinations with natural and cultural attractions, followed by spa towns and mountain resorts. Other locations, not categorized into these groups but offering accommodation services, also reported a notable number of stays.

Foreign tourists, on the other hand, favored spa destinations the most, followed by other tourist areas and mountain resorts.
