A unique atmosphere filled the air on the Students' Square in Pale, where visitors gathered for a spectacular Night of Oldtimers, enjoying the sight of around 40 vintage cars that brought the spirit of bygone times back to life.
The event was organized as part of the "Gospojinske Svečanosti" (Festivities of the Dormition), marking the municipality's patron saint day – Velika Gospojina. Before arriving at the square, the proud owners of these classic cars took part in a ceremonial drive through the streets of Pale, offering locals a moving preview of automotive history.
Pale’s Mayor Dejan Kojić told reporters this was the first time such an event had been held in the municipality, expressing gratitude to the participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, and Croatia who made the journey to attend.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for people to remember the cars their parents once drove, and for the younger generations to see what automobiles used to look like,” Kojić said.
One of the event’s organizers, Danko Mijović, emphasized that this gathering brought together true enthusiasts who are passionate about classic vehicles.
“This is the first oldtimer meet-up in the area of East Sarajevo, and visitors had the chance to enjoy an exhibition of around 40 vehicles, the oldest being a 1950 Mercedes,” Mijović explained.
He added that a 1960 Volvo also attracted significant attention. “Owning an oldtimer isn’t just about buying an old car – it’s a form of love and passion that requires real dedication,” he said.
Among the participants was Mugdim Bračković from Sarajevo, the proud owner of the 1950 Mercedes, which is still in drivable condition.
“It’s a true pleasure to drive an oldtimer, to meet people who share the same passion, exchange experiences, and work together to find rare parts,” said Bračković.
He also highlighted that Pale is becoming an increasingly recognizable tourist destination, and events like this only enhance its appeal.
The Night of Oldtimers in Pale left visitors with lasting impressions – not only of gleaming chrome and timeless design but also of the dedication and heart that oldtimer culture represents.
