At the next session of the Gradiška City Assembly, scheduled for Thursday, February 20, 2025, the agenda will include the Proposal for the Decision on the Tourist Tax, which envisions a higher amount compared to the current 1.5 BAM per night.
The new Law on Amendments to the Law on Tourist Tax came into effect on January 1, 2025, requiring all municipalities and cities in the Republic of Srpska to align their decisions on the amount of the tourist tax. Until these new decisions are implemented, the existing regulations will continue to apply. The law also introduces the abolition of flat-rate charges and the introduction of a tourist tax for private accommodations as well as rural tourism facilities. The new law stipulates that the tourist tax will range from 1.5 to 3 BAM.
The proposed new tourist tax rate for the city of Gradiška is 2.5 BAM per night, compared to the current 1.5 BAM.
The justification for this proposal explains that providers of hospitality services in apartments, holiday homes, and rooms for rent will be required to pay the tourist tax for every night stayed, under the same conditions as other hospitality providers. This is necessary to equalize the position of all accommodation providers in the market.
When comparing the tourist tax rates in surrounding local communities, the city of Laktaši leads with 3 BAM according to its latest Decision on the Tourist Tax. In Prnjavor, the rate is still 2 BAM according to the old Decision, while in Srbac it remains at 1.5 BAM. It is expected that these local communities will also soon adjust their rates.
