The municipalities of Srebrenica and Bratunac from the Republic of Srpska, along with Ljubovija and Bajina Bašta from the Republic of Serbia, have signed a Protocol on Cooperation in the field of tourism, aimed at the joint development, improvement, and promotion of the tourism offer of the Podrinje region.
The
document establishes a framework for long-term cross-border cooperation focused
on the better utilization of the region’s natural, cultural, and tourism
potentials. Through this initiative, the partner municipalities seek to
strengthen connections and create a unified approach to tourism development on
both sides of the Drina River.
The Protocol envisages cooperation in joint tourism promotion, the development of shared tourism products and travel packages, as well as the exchange of knowledge and experience among local communities.
Special emphasis has been
placed on joint applications for cross-border cooperation funds, which will
enable the implementation of concrete projects and additional investments in
tourism infrastructure.
The
main goal of the signed Protocol is to enhance the tourism visibility of
Podrinje and position it as a single, attractive tourism destination. By
connecting municipalities on both sides of the Drina, the initiative is
expected to contribute to sustainable development, economic growth, and
stronger regional cooperation.
