PETROVDAN CELEBRATIONS BRING A RICH PROGRAM OF EVENTS TO NOVI GRAD

NOVI GRAD, June 2026 – The municipality of Novi Grad is set to host the traditional “Petrovdan Days 2026” festival from June 17 to July 30, featuring more than 20 cultural, sports, and community events marking the Municipality Day and patron saint celebration, Petrovdan.

This year’s edition holds special significance as Novi Grad commemorates 120 years of its iconic riverside promenade (1906–2026) under the slogan “City on the Promenade.” The event program combines cultural heritage, sports competitions, artistic performances, and traditional gatherings, offering something for all generations.

The festival will officially open with a performance by the renowned “Kolo” National Ensemble of Folk Dances and Songs of Serbia, setting the stage for weeks of activities that include sports tournaments, exhibitions, conferences, hiking excursions, folklore festivals, and cultural programs.

The central celebrations are scheduled for July 11, when Novi Grad will host a ceremonial academy marking Municipality Day and Petrovdan, followed by an ethno-rock concert by Bojan Turina.

Throughout the same weekend, visitors will also enjoy a barbecue festival, traditional cooking competitions, an authentic folk music festival, and a folklore showcase.

Sports enthusiasts can look forward to a diverse lineup of competitions, including 3x3 basketball, five-a-side football tournaments, tennis events, basketball camps, open championships, and the traditional Una Regatta, which will take place on July 25 along the scenic Una River.

The cultural segment of the festival will feature a solo exhibition by Jelena Rakić Vučić, the Potkozarje Poetry Gatherings, the international children’s folklore festival “Povedi Kolo Veselo”, and the premiere of the theatrical production “It’s Not Easy Being an Actor.”

The festival will conclude on July 30 at the amphitheater of the Cultural and Educational Center, where audiences will have the opportunity to attend the premiere performance of the play, symbolically closing another successful edition of Petrovdan Days.

With its diverse and extensive program, “Petrovdan Days 2026” once again confirms its position as one of Novi Grad’s most important summer events, promoting community spirit, cultural heritage, and the sporting traditions that define the local identity.
