DERVANTA – Babino Brdo, the favorite recreation and walking area for residents of Dervanta, has been enriched with a modern panoramic viewpoint offering stunning views of the city and its surroundings, marking the completion of the second phase of the site's revitalization project.
The
development works have been successfully completed, giving this part of the
city a completely new dimension and making it an even more attractive
destination for visitors, nature enthusiasts, tourists, and recreational
walkers, said Biljana Teofilović, Director of the Dervanta Tourist
Organization.
“It
all started with the vision of a few enthusiasts who wanted to create a place
that our city and this location truly deserve. We have already received
announcements from donors interested in supporting the continuation of the
project, but regardless of that, we will keep moving forward with our own
resources and with the strong support of the City Administration,” Teofilović stated.
As part of the project, new urban furniture, lighting, video surveillance, and a tourist telescope have been installed. According to Teofilović, visitors can even see the famous Plehan hill and monastery complex through the telescope. Some children's facilities have already been added, while additional amenities are planned for the coming period.
Mayor
Igor Žunić expressed his satisfaction that Dervanta has gained a beautifully
arranged corner at a location known for generations as a gathering place for
local residents.
“This
is only the beginning of the development of the entire area. Our plan is to
continue the works, install features that highlight Dervanta’s rich tradition
in viticulture, and build walking trails in the next phase. In any case, we
have gained a wonderful new tourist attraction and another beautiful landmark
for our city,” Mayor Žunić emphasized.
In
addition to the City Administration, part of the funding for the project was
provided by the Tourist Organization of Republika Srpska. The organization’s
spokesperson, Sanela Šimun, welcomed the project and noted that Dervanta
continues to significantly enhance its tourism offer year after year.
She
also expressed confidence that the new viewpoint will become a place where many
cherished memories are created and where some of the most recognizable
photographs of Dervanta will be taken.
