The traditional St. Nicholas Day Celebrations will be held in Sokolac from December 17 to 23, featuring a rich program for all age groups, including presentations and free refreshments.
The Sokolac Municipal Tourist Organization told SRNA that the event will begin on Wednesday, December 17, with a staged reenactment of St. Nicholas’ procession through the streets of Sokolac.
The official opening of the celebrations is scheduled for Sunday, December 21, at 5:00 p.m. A children’s play will follow ten minutes later, while live music is planned for 6:00 p.m.
On Monday, December 22, at 3:00 p.m., the drama section of the “Saint Basil of Ostrog” Secondary School Center will perform a themed play.
A performance by children from the Preschool Education Institution is scheduled for Tuesday, December 23, at 2:00 p.m., followed by a bazaar organized by the same institution at 2:30 p.m.
On the same day at 3:00 p.m., pupils of the “Sokolac” Elementary School will present a festive program, which will also include a surprise for children.
The event will officially conclude at 6:00 p.m. with a concert by Marko Bašić.
All activities will take place on the plateau in front of the Sokolac municipal building. Visitors will be offered free mulled wine and warm beverages, along with a rich selection of sweets and bakery products.
The St. Nicholas Day Celebrations are organized by Sretko Marjanović, Vice President of the Sokolac Municipal Assembly, and the Municipal Tourist Organization, together with co-organizers, under the patronage of Sokolac Mayor Strahinja Bašević and the Mayor’s Office.
