TOURISM VOUCHER PROGRAM RETURNS TO BOOST DOMESTIC TRAVEL IN REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

The reintroduction of the tourism voucher initiative in Republika Srpska is expected to promote domestic travel and increase local tourism revenue, according to the Tourism Organization of Srpska.

TOURISM VOUCHER PROGRAM RETURNS TO BOOST DOMESTIC TRAVEL IN REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

“Unlike during the pandemic, there is now greater interest in traveling abroad. We hope the return of the tourism vouchers will once again encourage our citizens to visit and continue discovering our domestic destinations,” said Sanela Šimun, Public Relations Associate at the Tourism Organization, in a statement to SRNA.

She emphasized that domestic tourists have realized the value of what Republika Srpska has to offer — rich natural beauty, cultural attractions, and quality experiences.

“Summer holidays can be spent meaningfully within Republika Srpska. Numerous events also enhance the experience for both local and foreign tourists, especially considering that we remain a more affordable option,” Šimun added.

She noted that the uncertain global political climate might influence some citizens to choose domestic travel and take advantage of the vouchers — although, at this point, such trends are difficult to predict.

“With the support of tourism vouchers, families can save part of their holiday budget and spend more on local services and experiences, further boosting the domestic tourism economy,” she explained.

Šimun called on domestic travelers to seize the opportunity when the vouchers become available and explore one of the many destinations across Srpska.

“We invite all our fellow citizens who are planning a trip to spend at least part of their vacation at home. Not only will they enjoy our destinations, but they'll also contribute to the growth of our tourism sector,” she said.

The main advocates of the voucher program are Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik and the Serb Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željka Cvijanović.

Denis Šulić, Minister of Trade and Tourism of Republika Srpska, recently announced that around 20,000 vouchers will be available for domestic tourists this year, along with an additional 10,000 to be distributed through agencies catering to foreign guests.

“We will operate in two phases: the first phase will run from the end of May through the end of June, and the second will take place from around September 10 or 15 to November 15. This approach is aimed at supporting a tourism sector that continues to grow year after year,” said Šulić.
