PUBLIC HOLIDAY SCHEDULE IN REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

In accordance with the Law on Holidays of Republika Srpska (Official Gazette of RS No. 43/07), non-working days for the public holiday - International Labor Day are:

PUBLIC HOLIDAY SCHEDULE IN REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

May 1st and 2nd, 2025 (Thursday and Friday)

May 9th, 2025 (Friday)

On these public holidays, state institutions, local government bodies, public enterprises, and other organizations, as well as individuals engaged in service and production activities, will not work.

City Administration - Organized Civil Registrar Duty

During the May Day and Victory Day holidays, the City Administration will be closed on May 1st, 2nd, and 9th.

The Department for General Administration reminds that for emergency cases related to the death of a person whose body needs to be urgently transferred outside the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, civil registrar duty will be organized on May 2nd. Registrars can be contacted on these days between 08:00 and 13:00 hours via the phone number: 051/244 – 444.

Working Hours During the May Day Holidays

According to the Decision on determining the working hours of legal entities and entrepreneurs performing retail, craft, and service activities in the city area, the following establishments will operate on May 1st and 9th:

From 00:00 to 24:00: Legal entities and entrepreneurs involved in the production and sale of bread, pastries, fresh pasta, and cakes, as well as stores like "dragstors" and shops at bus and train stations and gas stations.

From 08:00 to 21:00: Retail stores selling funeral supplies.

These establishments are also allowed to operate on May 2nd, and on the second day of the public holiday, legal entities and entrepreneurs involved in retail, craft, and service activities, as well as shopping centers, can operate from 08:00 to 16:00 hours. Shopping centers can be open from 08:00 to 22:00 hours.

Employers must ensure the exercise of workers' rights in accordance with labor laws for those working during the upcoming holidays.

Restaurants and Cafes

Restaurants and cafes will operate according to the Decision on working hours for hospitality establishments in the city of Banja Luka.

On International Labor Day, May 1st, contrary to the Decision on the working hours of legal entities and entrepreneurs engaged in retail, craft, and service activities, from 07:00 to 13:00, the sale of meat by independent entrepreneurs will be permitted. This decision follows a request from the Crafts and Entrepreneurship Chamber of the Republic of Srpska, submitted on behalf of the Banja Luka region.

Pharmacy Duty

The "Prvi Maj" pharmacy will be on duty during the May Day holidays.

Public Transport

The Department of Transport and Roads informs passengers that public city and suburban transport buses in the city of Banja Luka will operate according to the holiday timetable (Sunday schedule) during the May Day holidays and the commemoration of Victory Day over Fascism, that is, on May 1st, 2nd, and 9th.
