In Čajniče, the new school year began not only with the smiles of first-grade students but also with a powerful message of unity and care.
For the first time, the municipality provided one-time financial assistance to parents enrolling their children in school. This initiative marks a commendable and responsible act, demonstrating that local authorities understand the needs of their citizens and place families at the center of their priorities.
Mayor Miroslav Furtula, accompanied by his team, welcomed the first graders with warm words and gifts. However, the most meaningful gift this September was the relief given to parents, allowing them to send their children to school with less worry and more joy.
The funds for this support were secured by reducing the salaries of municipal officials—a move that further highlights the municipality’s commitment to setting priorities where they matter most: with children and their parents.
Additionally, every first-grade student received a school supply kit to make their first day of school colorful and joyful.
“Our children are our future, and their parents are their strength. This is our way of standing by them—not just with words, but with actions,” said Furtula.
