Just 12 kilometers south of Mostar, near the village of Buna, lies a natural wonder – Bunski Kanali, a protected natural monument since 1970.
Here, the Buna and Neretva rivers flow almost side by side before merging over travertine barriers, creating stunning waterfalls and a breathtaking landscape.
The site is easily accessible by car and is best visited during the summer, when the turquoise colors of the rivers and rocky formations are at their most striking.
Today, Bunski Kanali is a favorite destination for nature lovers and photographers, as well as a symbol of the successful citizens’ movement that stopped the construction of small hydropower plants in 2014.
This unique natural attraction continues to draw more visitors each year, offering an unforgettable glimpse into Herzegovina’s pristine beauty.
