A former aircraft once linked to notorious drug kingpin Pablo Escobar has been given a remarkable new purpose after entrepreneur Johnny Palmer converted it into a luxury Airbnb accommodation where overnight stays cost approximately €500 per person.
The
aircraft, a Boeing 727 originally built in 1968, was converted into a private
jet in the early 1980s when it reportedly became part of Escobar’s fleet. The
Colombian cartel leader, widely regarded as one of the wealthiest criminals in
history, amassed an estimated fortune of around $30 billion through illegal
activities before his death.
Given
Escobar’s immense wealth, it is hardly surprising that the aircraft was
originally fitted with lavish features, including gold accents and crystal
decorations. Although the jet has since changed ownership and undergone
extensive restoration, many of its distinctive 1980s design elements have been
preserved to maintain its retro character.
Today, the unusual accommodation offers guests a unique blend of aviation history and modern comfort. Inside the aircraft’s fuselage are two living areas, a master bedroom with a double bed, three bathrooms, a shower, and a fully equipped kitchen capable of accommodating up to four guests.
Outside,
visitors can enjoy a spacious deck featuring a hot tub, sauna, and outdoor
shower, creating an ideal setting for relaxation during the warmer months. The
property also emphasizes sustainability, as the entire facility is powered by
renewable energy generated through solar panels.
The
aircraft has been mounted on shipping containers in the Skyline Park industrial
area of Bristol, where it now serves as one of the region’s most unusual
tourist accommodations.
Those
considering a stay should be aware that weekends generally offer a peaceful and
secluded experience. During weekdays, however, the tranquility may occasionally
be interrupted by delivery vehicles operating in a neighboring industrial yard.
Combining
luxury, history, and a touch of intrigue, the transformed Boeing 727 has become
an eye-catching destination for travelers seeking an unconventional overnight
experience in the United Kingdom.
