PICTURE BOOK ABOUT GOMIONICA MONASTERY TO BE PROMOTED IN BANJA LUKA

The picture book “The Story of Gomionica Monastery” will be officially presented on August 29 at 7 PM in the Exhibition Hall of the National and University Library of the Republic of Srpska in Banja Luka. The promotion will also mark the opening of an exhibition under the same name.

The author of the picture book is Archimandrite Platon (Jović), and the publisher is the National and University Library of the Republic of Srpska. The co-publisher is the Gomionica Monastery. Both the promotion and exhibition are being held as part of the 60th Kočić Gathering.

Children attending the event will receive copies of the picture book and special gifts prepared especially for them.

Gomionica Monastery is a sacred site where the name of God has been glorified for more than 500 years.

"The monks and nuns who lived in the monastery over the centuries devoted their lives to serving God and the Serbian people. In times before modern printing, Gomionica’s monastics wrote and transcribed important books, painted icons, and crafted various objects for monastic use," reads the foreword of the picture book.
