“JAZAVAC” THEATRE READY FOR “ZAPLET 17” INTERNATIONAL ACTORS’ FESTIVAL

The City Theatre “Jazavac” in Banja Luka is once again hosting the International Festival of Actors “Zaplet 17,” which will take place from October 19 to 25 under the slogan “I Know Us…”.

As per tradition, the festival will open with the premiere of the host theatre’s newest production — “Behind Those Eyes” (“Iza tih očiju”).

This year’s competition program includes six theatres from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia, and Slovenia, alongside a variety of accompanying events.

The competition begins on Monday, October 20, at 7:00 PM with the play “Next Door” (“Vrata do”), produced by Teatar Exit from Zagreb.

On Tuesday, October 21, also at 7:00 PM, Slovenian theatre Mesno Gledališče Ljubljansko will present “Ex”.

The third competition night features Belgrade’s Boško Buha Theatre with the play “Yours and Mine”.

On the fourth night, Zagreb-based theatre Arterarij will stage “Doghouse” (“Kućica za pse”).

The final competition night will see Prijedor Theatre perform “All We Couldn't Say” (“Sve što nismo mogli reći”).

That same evening, the “Jazavac” Theatre will screen the documentary film “After the Party” (“Poslije zabave”), focused on writer Stevo Grabovac, followed by a live conversation with the author.

The festival also includes an extensive side program, featuring panel discussions, art exhibitions, and artist talks. Each evening will conclude with a roundtable discussion moderated by Aleksandar Vasiljević.

Throughout the festival, visitors can view an exhibition of works by Maja Grabovica, a fourth-year painting student at the Academy of Arts in Banja Luka.

“Zaplet” will also continue its well-known series “Conversations with Actors”, featuring notable guests such as Nebojša Cile Ilić, Tanja Bošković, Željko Stjepanović, and Nela Mihailović.

The official festival jury consists of actors Nataša Perić and Bojan Kolopić, along with writer Berislav Blagojević.

Admission to all accompanying programs is free of charge.Tickets for festival performances are available exclusively through direct purchase (no reservations) at the “Jazavac” Theatre box office, open daily (except Sundays) from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and at the theatre office on weekdays from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
