VALJEVO READY FOR THE 19TH DUVAN ČVARAK FESTIVAL – A WEEKEND OF FLAVOR AND TRADITION

The 19th Duvan Čvarak Festival in Valjevo will take place on Saturday and Sunday, October 11 and 12, 2025. This traditional gastronomic event brings together masters of old culinary crafts, lovers of homemade food, and numerous visitors from across the region.

The festival will open on Saturday with a competition in preparing “šoder čvarci” (traditional pork cracklings), while Sunday is reserved for the main duvan čvarak competition, the specialty that has made Valjevo famous throughout Serbia. Organizers expect more than 80 competing teams, the same impressive number as last year.

In addition to the competitions, visitors will enjoy a large exhibition with over 300 vendors, featuring homemade products, traditional crafts, cheeses, honey, rakija (fruit brandy), and other local delicacies.

For nearly two decades, the Duvan Čvarak Festival has been celebrating Serbian culinary heritage, turning Valjevo into a lively gathering place filled with music, tradition, and authentic local flavors.
