The blasts from the trombonists signaled the time for the Mimosa Festival flag to wave proudly at the city gate, Tori, while simultaneously initiating the grand procession of majorettes, city bands, masks, locals, and guests from Trg Nikole Đurkovića towards Igalo.
Opening the traditional floral celebration, the Mayor of Herceg Novi, Stevan Katić, emphasized that the Mimosa Festival symbolizes joy, strengthens friendships, fosters new ones, defies winter, heralds spring, brings entertainment, and celebrates life.
- Exactly for these reasons, the festivity has been ongoing for 55 years, and we nurture and develop it with special care. You can expect over 70 programs until March 3rd, and I believe each one of you will find something interesting and enjoyable, stated Katić.
Over the next two weeks, Herceg Novi will host more than 50 entertaining, cultural, gastronomic festivities, and over 20 sports events.
The first in the lineup is the Mimosa Harvest – a festival of mimosa, fish, and wine along the Herceg Novi Riviera, starting today with concerts by "Trio Mare" in Đenovići, as well as the "Stari Kapetan" and "Trio Gušt" choirs in Baošići.
In the evening hours, a grand masquerade will be held at the "Dr. Simo Milošević" Institute.
The organizers of the Mimosa Festival are the Municipality of Herceg Novi, the Public Institution of Culture Herceg Fest, and the Tourist Organization of Herceg Novi.
