The spring of the Janj is one of the most beautiful natural sites in the surroundings of Šipovo, attracting visitors with its untouched nature, clear mountain streams and numerous waterfalls.
The river emerges in a limestone valley about one kilometre long and approximately 300 metres wide, creating a landscape that resembles the magnificent scenery of old Renaissance parks. Lush greenery blends with crystal-clear water, small streams and lively cascading waterfalls that give the area a unique visual identity.
A special feature of the spring is the confluence of the small river Vaganac into the Janj River right at its source, creating a natural meeting point of waters that contributes to the formation of numerous cascades and rapids.
After leaving the narrow canyon, the Janj River becomes calmer but still retains its dynamic character. The river continues its flow through rapids and deep whirlpools, moving towards the area known as Janj Islands, above which another waterfall is formed.
Along its course to the confluence with the Pliva, the Janj River constantly changes its appearance – from almost motionless, icy-cold water to foamy rapids and cascading waterfalls.
Today, the Janj River spring is a popular destination for nature lovers, hikers and photographers who want to experience the peace and beauty of unspoiled nature. The sound of water, fresh mountain air and rich greenery make this area a true natural oasis and one of the most attractive natural locations in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
