The results of biodiversity research conducted in the Majevica area will be presented at an exhibition titled “Majevica – Towards Becoming a Nature Park”, which will take place at the Lopare Cultural Center on January 30, 2026, starting at 1:30 PM. The event is organized by the citizens’ association “Guardians of Majevica” from Lopare.
According
to Andrijana Pekić, president of the association, the exhibition will offer a
brief overview of biodiversity research carried out on Majevica with the aim of
obtaining protected area status.
Over the past year and a half, extensive research of plant and animal life has been conducted on Majevica, confirming that the area is home to a large number of rare, protected, and valuable species of both flora and fauna, Pekić emphasized.
She
explained that all research findings have been submitted to the Institute for
the Protection of Cultural-Historical and Natural Heritage of the Republic of
Srpska, which, in accordance with the Law on Nature Protection, is obliged to
prepare a formal study. This information was published on the official website
