Branislav Radišić, a nature enthusiast and passionate photographer, has captured stunning images of blagva (caesar's mushroom) and vrganj (porcini), which he shared on the "Priroda društvo Teslić i okolina" page. His photos beautifully showcase the unique splendor of these mushrooms, a true gift from nature.

Vrganj (Boletus edulis), known as the king of mushrooms, is a favorite edible species found in deciduous and coniferous forests throughout Europe, including Bosnia and Herzegovina. It thrives from summer to autumn, especially in oak and birch forests, as well as mixed woodlands, at elevations up to around 1200 meters.

Vrganj is easily recognized by its rounded cap, which ranges in color from light to dark brown, and its thick white stem. It has a pleasant, fresh, meaty aroma and does not change color when cut.

Highly prized for its rich flavor and nutritional value, vrganj can be prepared in various ways – fresh, breaded, dried, or even pickled with spices in oil. It is particularly sought after in markets due to its high quality and can command high prices, making it a true forest treasure for gatherers and mushroom lovers.

Blagva (Amanita caesarea), also known as the caesar's mushroom, is one of the most highly regarded edible mushrooms in southern Europe. Loved by ancient Roman emperors, its name "caesarea" reflects its imperial status. Blagva begins its life resembling an egg, covered in an elastic veil, from which the vibrant orange and yellow mushroom emerges. Due to its majestic appearance and exceptional flavor, it goes by many names, such as kneginja, blagar, rudnjača, škripac, and more.

Blagva can be prepared in numerous ways. It can be grilled, fried, or dried, while young specimens, still encased in their white veil, can even be eaten raw in salads, preserving their original, rich flavor.

Radišić's photographs of these mushrooms once again remind us of the beauty and richness of nature hidden in the forests of Teslić. For all mushroom lovers, now is the perfect time to explore the wilderness and savor these unique gifts that autumn has to offer.
