Borilovačko Lake is located in the central part of the Zelengora mountain, right next to the road connecting Kalinovik and the Čemerno Pass.
It is about a kilometer and a half away from Orlovačko Lake, which is the most visited lake on Zelengora. Administratively, it belongs to the municipality of Kalinovik and is situated on the very border with Sutjeska National Park.
Borilovačko Lake is the only artificial lake on Zelengora.
It is located at an altitude of 1450 meters above sea level.
It is also known as Jugovo Lake, named after the gamekeeper
who created the reservoir by damming the stream. Later, a stable stone dam was
built, forming a larger reservoir.
The lake is approximately 250 meters long and about 100 meters wide, depending on the water level.
The depth of the lake reaches up to
5 meters.
The lake is regularly stocked with fish, making it a popular
and suitable spot for fishing. Due to its accessibility and location along the
hiking trails of Zelengora, it attracts many visitors. This has led to the
construction of a tourist settlement at the lake, which is currently underway.
The development of accommodation and hospitality facilities
will undoubtedly increase the number of visitors to this lake and the Zelengora
mountain as a whole.
It is to be hoped that the construction of the tourist
complex will not endanger the natural beauty of this mountain, for which
Zelengora is well known.
