Traveling abroad can be expensive — even before you get to the airport.
Flight tickets, luggage fees, travel insurance, and accommodation can quickly add up, and the real spending only begins once you arrive at your destination. Day trips, meals, local transportation, and souvenirs can significantly stretch your budget, reports the Daily Mail.
However, Australian travelers and influencers Georgia and Dan have compiled a list of countries worth visiting while you're still young — and, more importantly, while you're still on a limited budget. In a short Instagram video, they showcased the destinations they visited, revealed how much they paid for accommodation, transport, food, and activities, and shared personal impressions from their trips.
At the very top of the list was Guatemala, where they found accommodation starting at €13.18. Transportation costs ranged from €4.39 to €8.79, activities were available from €8.79, and restaurant meals cost between €2.64 and €5.27.
Nicaragua offered similar affordability, with accommodation priced between €10.54 and €15.81, transport from €3.51 to €7.02, and meals ranging from €1.76 to €4.39.
In Morocco, prices were slightly higher but still very budget-friendly: accommodation from €13.18 to €17.57, transport between €5.27 and €10.54, activities ranging from €8.79 to €21.97, and meals typically between €4.39 and €7.02.
In Colombia, they spent between €11.54 and €19.34 on accommodation. Transport cost them €4.39 to €10.54, activities ranged from €8.79 to €17.58, and meals were between €3.51 and €5.27.
Turkey stood out as one of the most affordable destinations — with accommodation between €8.79 and €13.18, transport from €5.27 to €8.79, and both food and activities starting at just €8.79.
Finally, they visited Bolivia, the country with by far the lowest overall costs: accommodation ranged from €8.79 to €13.18, transport cost only €2.64 to €4.39, activities ranged from €8.79 to €17.58, and some meals were even cheaper than €2.64.
More for Less
All the mentioned countries still represent great options for travelers on a tight budget. Meanwhile, destinations like Croatia, which were once known for being affordable, are increasingly becoming part of the luxury tourism scene.
That’s why more and more young travelers, like Georgia and Dan, are choosing to explore Latin America, Asia, or North Africa — where they get more authentic and enriching experiences for the same or even lower cost, often cheaper even after including airfare, Dnevno reports.
