The Tourist Organization of the City of East Sarajevo, in cooperation with the Mountaineering and Ecological Society "Romanija," is organizing the traditional "Đurđevdan Uranak" on May 4, 2025.
Participants will gather between 7:00 and 8:00 AM at the "Stajna" mountain lodge. The event includes a hike to Novak’s Cave and back, totaling approximately 15 kilometers of walking through the picturesque Romanija landscape.
All attendees will be treated to a complimentary lunch at the "Stajna" lodge.
"For more information, please call +387 65 091 773," the organizers announced.
Đurđevdan Uranak was once a central part of Serbian and Romanija tradition—celebrating St. George’s Day, the arrival of spring, and historically serving as a gathering point for hajduks. This cultural event was largely replaced by the May Day Uranak during the communist era.
Thanks to the efforts of the Tourist Organization of East Sarajevo and the PED "Romanija," this centuries-old tradition is regaining its significance. Each year, it draws an increasing number of participants, marking a meaningful revival of local heritage.
