DO YOU KNOW: HOW TO FAST DURING PACHISTA WEEK?

For Orthodox Christians, the Great Easter Fast began on March 3 and will last until Easter, which this year falls on April 20.

DO YOU KNOW: HOW TO FAST DURING PACHISTA WEEK?

The Easter Fast is considered the strictest, as it mainly involves fasting with only water. However, its essence is not just about abstaining from food and drink but also about spiritual discipline—refraining from negative thoughts and actions.

Starting from March 10, the second week of the Easter Fast begins, known as Pachista Week, as it follows immediately after Clean Week.

HOW TO FAST DURING PACHISTA WEEK?

During Pachista Week, there are no major religious holidays marked in red on the Orthodox calendar.

From Monday to Friday, strict fasting on water is observed. On Saturday and Sunday, food prepared with oil is allowed. However, fish and wine are not permitted during this week.

Equally important is the spiritual purification of the body—focusing on positive thoughts and deeds throughout the fasting period.
