At the “Roots” (meaning Roots) Fair, organized in Zursel, Province of Antwerp, the Zmijanje embroidery – recognized as part of the world’s cultural heritage – had its first-ever presentation in the Flemish-speaking region.

Svetlana Marković conducted workshops and showcased the diverse applications of this unique embroidery. Visitors could explore a collage illustrating its use – from strict traditional motifs to modern adaptations in contemporary design.

The exhibition also featured the works of several creators who presented their interpretations of Zmijanje embroidery: Sanja Bajić (Tragovi jewelry), Dragana Ćorokalo (Dantea handmade jewelry), Dragica Mamić, Zmijanjski__vez, Zmijanje.design, Vinka Radaković, and Živana Vukčević, a retired midwife.

Alongside the professional presentation, visitors had the opportunity to learn more about the tourism offerings of Banja Luka and the Republic of Srpska, thanks to promotional materials provided by the Tourist Organization of Banja Luka and Aurora Plus Group.

The presentation resulted in establishing new contacts and agreements for future international collaborations and guest exhibitions.
