Nestled at the foot of Mount Ivice, in the municipality of Gacko, nearly 1,000 meters above sea level, the Koprivica Household has become a true oasis of peace, captivating visitors from around the world.
Just over a year ago, hosts Miodrag Koprivica and Božana Koprivica welcomed their first guests. Since then, their rural retreat has steadily gained attention among travelers seeking authentic experiences and a return to nature.
Speaking
to the team of Radio Gacko in the program “Čašica razgovora,” Miodrag
emphasized the growing interest in rural and active tourism, as well as
nature-based holidays. Visitors, he noted, are particularly impressed by the
untouched landscape, traditional cuisine, warm hospitality, and the unique
story behind numerous artifacts displayed throughout the household.
These items, carefully preserved and exhibited, reflect the life and heritage of the Koprivica family, which has lived in the village of Gradina for over 200 years. Together, they create an atmosphere that connects guests with the spirit of old Herzegovina.
The
household offers accommodation for up to nine guests, all designed in a
traditional ethno style. At the heart of the property is a spacious dining area
that can host up to 50 visitors, making it suitable for gatherings and group
experiences.
Miodrag
believes that the municipality of Gacko holds strong potential for the
development of mountain and ethno tourism. However, he points out that better
road infrastructure is essential, particularly along the route connecting
Gacko, Tjentište, and Foča.
With
its blend of history, tradition, and natural beauty, the Koprivica household
stands as a promising example of how rural tourism can preserve heritage while
attracting a global audience.
