With a public gathering at the Old Church in Srpska Varoš, at the very place where the oldest event in the town of Ukrina first took place in 1851, the 173rd "Derventa Fair" was officially opened on Monday.
As in previous years, the largest local and well-known regional event will attract a large number of Derventa residents and guests from all over the world who enjoy the fair's attractions.
Ballerinas, carousels, kamikaze rides, and new amusement attractions are still there. There's no shortage of loud music and dazzling lights in all colors, as well as a colorful variety of goods at vendor stalls and food offerings at the hospitality "tables."
Once again this year, "Derventa Street," located across from Milenijum, offers exclusively local products.
The Derventa Fair is an economic and entertainment event and one of the oldest in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as one of the largest fairs in the former Yugoslavia.
It is held every year on the Orthodox holiday of Velika Gospojina, August 28th, and has a tradition dating back to 1851. In recent years, it has been added to the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Srpska, reports Derventa Kafe.
