UNIVERSITY OF BANJALUKA CELEBRATES 50 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE

Marking half a century of successful work and existence, the University of Banjaluka (UNIBL) – the leading higher education institution in the Republic of Srpska – has prepared a rich and diverse program to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

The central event will be a ceremonial academy, scheduled for Friday, November 7, 2025, at 12:00 PM in the Cultural Center “Banski dvor” in Banjaluka.

As part of the anniversary celebration, on Wednesday, November 5, at 11:00 AM, a bust of the University’s first rector, Professor Dr. Dragomir Malić, will be unveiled in front of the Rectorate and the Academy of Arts building.

The following day, Thursday, November 6, at 10:00 AM, a memorial service and wreath-laying ceremony will be held at the memorial plaque dedicated to fallen students and University employees, located between the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

On Tuesday, November 11, at 10:00 AM, the promotion of new PhD graduates will take place in Hall No. 8 of the Rectorate.

Then, on Friday, November 14, at 10:00 AM, the Student Cultural Center will host a conference dedicated to science at the University of Banjaluka.

At the end of the month, from November 27 to 29, the University will organize the traditional student scientific and professional conference “Students Encounter Science” (StES).

By the end of the year, several faculties will mark their own anniversaries, graduates of the first and second cycles will be promoted, and numerous scientific conferences, professional meetings, cultural, and educational events will take place as part of the jubilee program.

Through this celebration, the University of Banjaluka and its member faculties not only commemorate fifty years of existence but also reaffirm their longstanding commitment to education, science, and culture, confirming their mission to remain a pillar of academic life and social development.

Founded on November 7, 1975, the University of Banjaluka is today the leading higher education, scientific, and research institution in the Republic of Srpska, and the second-largest university in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

With about 150 study programs across all three cycles, it educates approximately 15,000 students from all parts of the Republic of Srpska and abroad.

The University continues to achieve European standards in higher education and contributes to the overall development of knowledge. Through research, innovation, international cooperation, and scientific advancement, it strives to improve teaching processes and support the progress of society as a whole.
