On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the death of Ivo Andrić, the only Yugoslav Nobel laureate in literature, the literary magazine Enheduana and the association Alia Mundi have launched a unique literary initiative titled "The Secret of Andrić’s Box."
This symbolic “box” opened a space for contemporary reflection on Andrić’s work through the voices of authors from across the region.
The task was simple in form, yet profoundly demanding in spirit: each participant was asked to write a single extended thought in the style of Andrić’s storytelling. At the end of their contribution, they were to cite the specific work, character, or sentence from Andrić’s legacy that served as their inspiration.
The resulting anthology brought together fifty writers from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, and North Macedonia, each offering a unique perspective that pays homage to the enduring power and resonance of Andrić’s literary world.
