The Museum of the Republic of Srpska has announced its annual "Heart Writes in Cyrillic" contest, seeking the most beautiful Cyrillic handwriting and calligraphy.
The contest is divided into two categories: children up to 15 years old and adults, according to a statement from the Museum.
Cash prizes have been allocated for the top three works in each category, with a total prize fund of 1,450 BAM.
Supported by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Srpska and the City of Banja Luka, the contest is part of the "Museum Days of Cyrillic" initiative, which aims to promote, preserve, and cherish the Serbian language and Cyrillic script.
All citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina are eligible to participate.
This year’s assigned text for transcription is the first four stanzas of the poem "A Word About Love" by Desanka Maksimović, as stated in the Museum's announcement.
The submission deadline is November 10, 2024. The awards ceremony will take place at the Museum of the Republic of Srpska on November 22, 2024, during the "Museum Days of Cyrillic" event. On the same day, the Museum will host an exhibition showcasing the submitted works that meet the contest criteria.
