The 37th edition of the World Tourism Film Awards was held for the first time this year in Guimarães, Portugal. The event was organized by the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT) in cooperation with the Municipality of Guimarães, with the support of Tourism Porto & North of Portugal.
Editors of SeeSrpska and Hedonist Magazine had the honor of serving as members of the international jury, while journalists from both media outlets attended the ceremony alongside tourism experts, creative agencies, production companies, and media representatives from around the world.
This year, more than 4,000 promotional tourism videos from nearly 50 countries competed in the CIFFT Circuit, the world’s leading competition dedicated to audiovisual tourism content. A total of 120 films reached the final stage, and 34 received prestigious awards across categories including tourism services, products, regions, countries, and cities.
In addition to winners from Portugal, Spain, Denmark, Colombia, Japan, and other nations, films from the Balkans achieved exceptional success. The promotional film Visit Sarajevo – Where Cultures Embrace by the Tourism Association of Sarajevo Canton was awarded in the City Promotion category, as was Zagreb All-Inclusive by the Zagreb Tourist Board. The National Tourism Organization of Montenegro received recognition in the Country Promotion category, while Slovenia triumphed in the Tourism Products category.
Speaking to SeeSrpska, CIFFT Director Alexander V. Kammel emphasized the importance of promotional films in shaping the global image of tourism destinations.
“Promotional films deliver unique messages that spark curiosity and inspire travel. The number of films from the Balkans this year was remarkable — outstanding work that clearly shows improving production quality in your region,” said Kammel.
