TREBINJE HOSTS INTERNATIONAL WATER POLO TOURNAMENT

Some of the best European water polo national teams have been visiting Trebinje in recent days.

From 3 to 5 January 2026, the southernmost city of the Republic of Srpska hosted the International Water Polo Tournament “Trebinje Cup 2026”. Sport, socialising and a positive fan atmosphere filled the stands of the indoor Olympic swimming pool throughout the event.

This important sporting competition brought together national teams and clubs from Italy, Spain, France, Greece, Hungary and Serbia, attracting numerous athletes, coaches and visitors from across Europe.

Over the course of three days, spectators enjoyed high-quality water polo matches, while also experiencing a vibrant atmosphere of diversity that further enriched Trebinje’s winter tourist offer.

The tournament contributed to higher occupancy rates in accommodation facilities and increased visits to local restaurants and cafés, confirming the importance of sports tourism for the development of the local community.

During their stay, tournament participants and guests also had the opportunity to explore Trebinje’s natural beauty, cultural and historical landmarks, as well as its rich gastronomic offer for which the city is widely recognised.
