THE FESTIVAL OF MIMOZA ARRIVES IN EAST SARAJEVO

The famous "Festival of Mimoza," one of the most recognized cultural and tourist events in the region, has arrived in Pale and East Sarajevo from Herceg Novi, bringing the spirit of the Adriatic coast and a carnival atmosphere.

Stefan Stajčić, director of the Tourist Organization of East Sarajevo, said the event was organized under the twinning agreement between East Sarajevo and Herceg Novi.

“Even on this cold day, we managed to bring a touch of the Mediterranean. The team from Herceg Novi came with city music, majorettes, and masks,” Stajčić said.

The festive parade, featuring a brass band, majorettes, trombonists, and masked performers, was enjoyed by a large crowd through the streets of Pale. The team from Herceg Novi also distributed mimosa flowers to citizens at Studentski Square.

Stajčić hopes this event will mark the beginning of stronger cooperation, with plans to promote East Sarajevo in Herceg Novi during the summer.

Željka Čepić, a member of the “Festival of Mimoza” Directorate, expressed her pleasure at being in Pale and East Sarajevo with friends from Herceg Novi, highlighting the long-standing brotherly cooperation between the two cities.

“It’s wonderful to bring this atmosphere here. Everyone is invited to join us at the 57th Festival of Mimoza in February in Herceg Novi,” she said.

Tatjana Ateljević, director of the public cultural institution “Herceg Fest,” noted that this is the first time the festival is presented in Pale and East Sarajevo and emphasized the importance of cooperation with Republika Srpska, as most visitors to the festival usually come from the region.

The festival also reached the lower part of East Sarajevo, with a parade along Spasovdanska Street and a concert by the band “Trio Mare” at Trg Srbija.

Visitors from Herceg Novi handed out mimosa bouquets to locals, spreading the joy and fragrance of the yellow flowers in a winter setting. The “Festival of Mimoza” will take place in Herceg Novi from February 13 to 28.
