ARCHEOLOGICAL ENIGMA UNRAVELED IN DERVENTA

Deep within the rugged terrain of Derventa lies a mystery that has puzzled archaeologists for centuries. The enigmatic rock cavities, known as "Derventa Ambarine," have long been speculated to serve as storage spaces for food, yet the exact purpose and origin of these structures remain shrouded in uncertainty.

Scattered across three locations, with the largest concentration found in Donji Detlak, these cavernous formations have baffled researchers for generations. While some attribute their creation to over fifteen hundred years ago, others place them within the medieval period.

In recent decades, intensive investigations have shed light on these enigmatic structures, yet they yield little in terms of artifacts or definitive chronological markers.

Despite the absence of jewelry, tools, or any discernible traces, their dimensions remain well-documented.

Measuring approximately two and a half meters in depth, with an interior width of around one and a half meters, and an entrance diameter of about half a meter, these formations, resembling amphorae, have become iconic symbols of Derventa. Each cavity features a wooden replica above it, adding to their cultural significance.
