ACTION IN UGLJEVIK: TOURISM GROWS WHERE NATURE IS CLEAN

On the occasion of Earth Day, a clean-up and tree-planting campaign was organized in Ugljevik under the slogan “Tourism grows where nature is clean.” The initiative was carried out by the local Tourist Organization, the municipality, and the public utility company “Kompred.”

Residents of all ages took part in the action, standing side by side for a cleaner Ugljevik. From kindergarten children to students and teachers, the response from the community was strong.

“This is important for tourism, but also for all of us and our children. We need to realize that we can clean the area in front of our own buildings ourselves. No one needs to invite us to do that,” said Darko Đuračić, a journalist at Skala Radio.

The focus of the campaign is on education and engaging young people in order to develop a sense of responsibility towards the environment.

Through socializing and community work, the goal is to create a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment for both present and future generations.

“The essence is to involve our fellow citizens in all of this, because we need to raise awareness about the importance of nature, which gives us so much, while we take so much from it,” said Gorica Rikić, Director of the Tourist Organization of Ugljevik.

According to Dragan Gajić, the Mayor of Ugljevik, an additional 25 waste bins were provided last year, with the same number planned for this year, along with new containers.

As part of the campaign “Let’s Make Ugljevik More Beautiful,” scheduled for April 16 and 17, activities include cleaning and arranging the “Parkić” playground, the bed of the Janja River, and the town center.
