One of Herzegovina’s most prominent investors, widely known as the "Duke of Herzegovina" and the "King of Chocolate," Rodoljub Drašković, revealed in an interview with ATV how he came up with the idea to create the City of the Sun in Trebinje.
Jokingly, Drašković told the television station that despite those grand nicknames, his favorite is actually “failed artist.” When asked why he considers himself failed, he explained:
“I never fulfilled my potential, even though I’m a senior student at the Academy of Performing Arts. I used to write prose and poetry, but I never really made a name for myself. That’s why I turned to business.”
He then shared how the idea for building a city in the rocky terrain of Herzegovina came to be.
“It was simply my vision—to leave behind a legacy in Herzegovina, the place I come from. All I had was barren land. I declared, ‘There will be a city here,’ and so it was—the City of the Sun. Today, it’s a well-known and respected tourist destination across Europe and even the world. I’ve been here for over 15 years. My work remains. The industry is running, trade is active, hospitality and tourism are thriving. There’s no stopping us,” said Drašković for ATV.
He also announced exciting new plans:
“We are opening a winter park—we're building it now. It will be a world-class attraction, unlike anything seen in Europe. We plan to complete it by the next tourist season,” Drašković concluded.
