The direct air route between Banja Luka and Tivat, operated by Air Montenegro, has proven to be a strong success during the summer season, prompting discussions about increasing the service to three weekly flights next year.
Strong passenger demand is reflected in ticket prices, which reached between €226 and €293 in July. In August, fares are currently available from €133 to €202, while the lowest September fare starts at around €107. However, as the summer season progresses, ticket prices are expected to rise due to continued demand.
Another
indicator of the route's success is its impressive load factor. Aircraft
occupancy has averaged more than 85 percent, with several flights exceeding 90
percent capacity. The best-performing flight so far recorded an outstanding 96
percent seat occupancy.
Interestingly, ticket prices on the Banja Luka–Tivat route are higher than on some of Air Montenegro's other services, including flights between Tivat and Belgrade and between Podgorica and Ljubljana. This highlights the strong demand for a direct connection between Banja Luka and the Montenegrin coast.
Banja
Luka Airport officials say they are closely monitoring ticket sales, fare
levels and passenger load factors throughout the season. Once the summer
schedule concludes, a detailed analysis will be carried out to determine
whether the route should be expanded during the 2027 summer season.
If the
current trend continues, travelers from the Republic of Srpska could enjoy up
to three weekly flights between Banja Luka and Tivat next summer, further
improving connectivity with Montenegro's Adriatic coast and making summer
travel even more convenient.
