Vuk Janković, a second-year student at “Jovan Dučić” Grammar School in Trebinje, has earned a spot at the prestigious International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), which will take place from July 10 to 20 in Australia. Vuk secured his position as the top-ranked participant following the Bosnia and Herzegovina Mathematical Olympiad and additional qualification rounds.
In addition to this remarkable achievement, Vuk also placed seventh in the national Physics Olympiad, which earned him the right to compete at the European Physics Olympiad. This event will be held in Sofia, Bulgaria, from June 13 to 17. Vuk is only the second student from his school to achieve this distinction.
Highlighting an already impressive season of success, Vuk recently won a silver medal at the Balkan Mathematical Olympiad, which was held in Sarajevo just days ago.
"We can only say that we are more than proud of this extraordinary young man, who breaks the limits of what seems impossible year after year, continuing to make us proud and brighten our days," stated representatives from “Jovan Dučić” Grammar School, as reported by TrebinjeLive.
The school also noted that this year, four of its students qualified for the national Olympiads in mathematics and physics: alongside Vuk, Andrija Rikalo, Lidija Berdović, and Savo Crnogorčić also represented their school with distinction.
