NOVI GRAD CROWNS WORLD CHAMPIONS!

The programming team from the "Sveti Sava" Primary School in Novi Grad has achieved global recognition by claiming first place in an international online coding competition hosted by South Africa. The team, composed of Igor Jeremić, Nikša Repac, Savan Jovanović, Balša Maran, and Dario Bjelac, guided by their mentor and IT teacher Gordana Vujanović, triumphed over 50 teams from across all continents.

“You solve problems using small paper cards, arrange them correctly, take a photo, and if you've followed the procedure correctly, the system will confirm your solution. This same logic can be applied to solving any other task. If you understand this approach, you essentially know how to program,” explained teacher Gordana Vujanović.

The competition, designed by Nelson Mandela University in South Africa, lasted 60 minutes.

However, the Novi Grad team completed all tasks in a record-breaking 18 minutes, securing the coveted winner’s trophy.

Igor Jeremić, the ninth-grade team captain, shared that the team spent two months preparing for the competition, attending additional classes. “Given how well-coordinated our team was, I expected us to win,” Jeremić stated confidently.

Nikša Repac, a seventh-grade team member, emphasized the magnitude of their accomplishment. “The competition was intense, with teams from all over the world. We prepared diligently, and that effort paid off. Our captain, Igor Jeremić, was an exceptional leader, and I want to commend him and the entire team for this victory,” Repac noted.

The IT department of "Sveti Sava" Primary School has a history of participation in numerous competitions, earning recognition and trophies that bring pride to both teachers and students. “I am overjoyed. We are a small town, and hearing the name Novi Grad mentioned in Sarajevo or internationally, wherever my students compete, fills me with happiness. Especially knowing they are passionate about what they do and that it could become their future profession,” added Vujanović.

This latest achievement highlights the school’s commitment to excellence. Over the years, "Sveti Sava" has produced numerous national and even European champions. The school’s message is clear: if you love what you do, success will follow.
