TURNS LOVE AND OBSESSION INTO A DOCUMENTARY FILM

A lifelong love and passion for sports inspired Miloš Vasiljević, a native of Gacko, to create the documentary film “Glorious Days of Gacko Sports.” This film revisits the moments and events that have defined Gacko's sports scene over the past 25 years.

Featuring football, volleyball, basketball, and kickboxing, the documentary captures a sports era with the hope that younger generations will achieve even greater successes to be celebrated in the future.

"If I say that the documentary ‘Glorious Days of Gacko Sports’ was a perfect hit and that this evening will be remembered, I don’t think I’m exaggerating. The packed Cultural Center showed just how much sports and past times mean to people," said Vasiljević.

According to him, the idea for the film had been in development for several years. Collecting archival materials proved challenging, but with the help of friends, he brought the concept to life. The film includes videos, photos, and other content filled with nostalgia for times when sports halls were packed, and streams of people flocked to Gacko's City Stadium.

"I’m especially happy that some people traveled hundreds of kilometers to attend the premiere, showing just how important this event was. It was difficult to gather an adequate archive, but we succeeded, and now these memories are preserved. We’ve documented significant dates, events, and matches, which was our ultimate goal," Vasiljević emphasized.

Among those present at the premiere was celebrated volleyball player Saša Starović, who shared memories of his early sports steps, nurtured in his hometown of Gacko.

Miloš admits it wasn’t easy, but it was worth the effort.
"When you work on something like this, you have to love it and live the story. We told our collective story, and last night we showed that a sense of unity and community still thrives in Gacko. If we can be united without divisions in anything, then sports are certainly the right arena," Vasiljević added, expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed in various ways to making the film a reality.
