Dejan Jovičić, a first-year student at the "Mihailo Petrović Alas" High School Center from Ugljevik, secured the top spot in the high school category at the 22nd International Poetry Festival for Children and Youth held in East Sarajevo.
Expressing his delight, Jovičić noted that this isn't his first accolade in the field of poetry. He actively participates in cultural and sporting events in Ugljevik municipality and endeavors to showcase his hometown in the best light across Srpska and the region. He extended his gratitude to his Serbian language and literature teacher, Valentina Gavrić.
Among hundreds of literary works from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republika Srpska, and Montenegro, Jovičić's entry stood out as the best in the high school category.
This year's festival paid homage to Milovan Danilo Danajlić, a poet who excelled in various literary forms, including poetry, prose, essays, and literary criticism. Danajlić authored over 70 books of fiction and poetry in Serbian and translated numerous children's literature books.
