BANJA LUKA ATHLETES STRIKE GOLD AT EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP IN ITALY

Members of the Banja Luka Kung Fu Wushu Club “Lotos”, Igor Petrović and Mihailo Đumić, have won gold medals at the European Junior Championship held recently in Montesilvano, Italy. The athletes from “Lotos” also represented the Shuai Jiao Team of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Chinese wrestling discipline).

Petrović triumphed in the under-80 kg category, while Đumić claimed the gold in the under-65 kg division. According to their coach Dragan Đumić, Petrović faced a particularly challenging path to victory despite having one fight less than Mihailo.

“Mihailo had a tough match against his old rival from Germany, which turned out to be his hardest fight. This is an outstanding result. Next, we begin preparations for the World Championship to be held in Italy next year. Our other club members were also with us, assisting with technical tasks, especially in opponent scouting,” said coach Dragan Đumić, as reported by Moja Banjaluka.

Members of the Shuai Jiao national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina, composed entirely of athletes from the Lotos Kung Fu Wushu Club, have already achieved remarkable success earlier this year at the European Cup held in North Macedonia in June. The team won five gold, one silver, and one bronze medal, along with a fourth-place finish.

Gold medals went to Mihailo and Mile Đumić, Lea Vujasin, Marija Palić, and Dane Marjanović. Igor Petrović took silver, Matej Marković won bronze, and David Menićanin secured fourth place.

This latest success once again confirms that Banja Luka’s “Lotos” continues to shine as one of the leading martial arts clubs in the region.
