Athlete and humanitarian Mirko Vujinović from Banja Luka will embark on a remarkable journey on June 11, walking all the way to Ostrog Monastery to raise awareness for children suffering from cancer.
Ljiljana Simurdić, president of the Parents’ Association of Children with Malignant Diseases "Iskra," told SRNA that Vujinović is a man who pushes boundaries and is a great friend of the organization.
“He will run and walk from the Church of Saint Basil of Ostrog in the Banja Luka neighborhood of Priječani to Ostrog, a sacred site where the relics of Saint Basil rest, where he will pray for the healing of children,” said Simurdić.
She added that Vujinović plans to cover around 50 kilometers per day, aiming to reach his destination in about ten days.
“With the blessing of the clergy, he is carrying the prayers and hopes of both parents and children fighting cancer, wishing for their swift recovery. This mission, made up of half a million steps, is dedicated to all sick children fighting the biggest battle of their lives, as well as to our Association,” Simurdić emphasized.
The Association stated that there are no words to express the depth of their gratitude toward Vujinović and confirmed that they will follow his every step on this humanitarian path.
