Located 12 kilometers from Gacko towards Nevesinje, in the Fojnica Local Community, at an altitude of 965 – 1050m, lies the village of Gardina.
Nestled in the valley or Gradinjsko Polje between Bjelasnica
and Magrope to the south, the mountain of Ivica to the west, and part of the
Ponikve area to the north, as stated on the Gacko Tourist Organization's
website.
The river Rašćelica meanders through Gradinjsko Polje, with
its largest tributary being Ravanjski Potok. Watercourses only have water
during the rainy season.
According to some historians, Gradina is one of the oldest villages in the municipality of Gacko.
Some of the sources include: Stopan, Muhar, Međupoljnik,
Poda, Mala Voda, Velika Voda, and others.
It likely got its name from the elevation of Gradina where
remains of various objects dating back to the prehistoric Bronze or Iron Age
period have been found.
