The BUK Diving Club from Banja Luka celebrated its remarkable 50th anniversary in a unique and meaningful way by organizing a large-scale environmental clean-up of the Vrbas River, combining its long-standing passion for diving with a commitment to nature conservation.
To
commemorate the milestone, the club held an eco-action focused on cleaning both
the riverbed and the riverbank at the Liman area. Supported by Motorways of the
Republic of Srpska, the initiative brought together more than 20 participants,
including divers and local citizens, all working toward the shared goal of
making the Vrbas River cleaner and more beautiful.
During
the clean-up, volunteers removed a significant amount of waste from both the
river and its banks, once again demonstrating that collective action can make a
real difference in protecting the environment and preserving one of Banja
Luka's most treasured natural landmarks
For the past five decades, the BUK Diving Club has promoted responsible stewardship of rivers, water resources, and nature.
This anniversary event served not only
as a celebration of the club's rich history but also as a powerful reminder
that environmental protection is a shared responsibility and that every
individual can contribute to preserving the beauty of the Vrbas River for
future generations.
The
initiative highlighted the importance of community involvement in environmental
conservation and reinforced the club's reputation as one of the region's
leading advocates for clean waterways and sustainable outdoor activities.
