During the visit, it was noted that the works are being carried out within the scheduled timeline.

The current phase includes a wide range of construction and conservation activities, such as tile installation, cleaning and repointing of joints on the façade walls, plastering and jointing of interior walls, removal of graffiti from exterior surfaces, installation of intermediate floor structures, as well as the construction of staircases and other carpentry works.

The restoration of the Kastel Fortress aims to preserve its cultural and historical heritage, improve the functionality of the site, and create better conditions for its future use. Once completed, the renovated towers will enhance the overall visitor experience and further strengthen Kastel Fortress as one of the most important tourist attractions in Banja Luka.

The adaptation of Tower 1 and Tower 2 at Kastel Fortress is being implemented as part of the GIFTSnet project, within the Interreg IPA HR–BA–ME 2021–2027 programme, which supports sustainable cultural tourism and cross-border cooperation in the region.
