THREE DECADES OF “BOSILJKOVANJE” IN DERVENTA

The Cultural and Artistic Youth Association “Bosiljak” from Derventa is preparing to mark a major milestone this year — the 30th edition of its traditional manifestation, “Bosiljkovanje,” set to take place from October 9 to 13 in Derventa.

The international folklore festival “Inter Folk Fest Bosiljkovanje,” known for gathering folklore ensembles from both Bosnia and abroad, will officially open on October 9 at 5:00 PM at the Freedom Square (Trg oslobođenja), in front of the Derventa City Administration. The opening ceremony will feature a vibrant cultural and artistic program.

Later that evening, at 8:00 PM, the Derventa Center for Culture will host a formal academy celebrating the 30th anniversary of the “Bosiljak” Youth Cultural Association.

On Friday, festival events will extend to the municipality of Petrovo, where a concert will take place. The same day, the Ozren Monastery will host a book promotion for “In the Footsteps of Posavina Ancestors” by author Stana Nagradić.

The celebration continues on Sunday, October 12, 2025, with a reception in Derventa for participating folklore groups. Special guests include KUD “Milan Gajić” from Petrovo, SPD “Nikola Tesla” from Postojna (Slovenia), FA “Dom kulture” from Mačvanski Prnjavor (Serbia), KUD “Sveti Sava” from Banja Luka, FA “Kobaš” from Kobaš, KUD “Branislav Nušić” from Borovo (Croatia), KUD “Krnjin” from Doboj, and ANI “Lijevče” from Srbac.

The festival’s grand finale will begin at 5:00 PM with a colorful parade through the streets of Derventa, followed by the closing concert at the Derventa Sports Center starting at 7:00 PM.

This year’s jubilee edition promises to be a celebration of tradition, culture, and unity, highlighting the lasting legacy and vibrant spirit of “Bosiljak” and its commitment to preserving folk heritage.
